Located
in the Southern region of Mississippi, this rescue was begun as a result
of "Foster"; a Pyr adopted by The Brooks Family from another
organizaion. Texas
Great Pyrenees Rescue
During the adoption process we discovered there were NO Pyr rescue organizations
in Mississippi, Louisiana, and Alabama. We decided to be a foster
family for TGPR and also assist in transporting Pyrs to their new homes.
From these humble beginnings we have evolved into our present newly formed
organization. Our mission is to accept Pyrs in need of homes in our region. Once they arrive medical issues are assessed and treated. This takes LOTS of money. We are in the process of obtaining our 501(c)(3) non-profit status which will help with future fundraising activities. The Pyr-in-need is fostered by generous families who open their homes and their hearts to ready the dog for placement until a new home can be found. The process of rehoming a Pyr can be a long and arduous journey fraught with laughter and tears. It is very rewarding to restore these gentle giants to good health and place them in good and loving homes. It can also be heart-wrenching to see the neglect and abuse some of these wonderful animals have endured. We are in serious need of foster homes in our area. If you find that you have room in your home and your heart for a foster placement, we would love to meet you. Please contact email for more information on the possibility of being a foster parent. If you are a veterinarian with time and/or resources to donate to this cause, we would appreciate hearing from you. The need for sometimes costly medical treatment is always an issue. Thank you for taking the time to read this and educating yourself about the constant plight of homeless animals. Your help will always be needed no matter where you are located. If you are unable to help our organization, contact your local humane society, animal shelter, local rescue groups, or even that neighbor who's home always seems to be the one where strangers drop off unwanted animals. If everyone takes the time to help just one animal in need, the population of homeless pets will be drastically reduced making our world a better place for all. |
